Accessibility Statement

We want LodeFinder to be usable by everyone, including people who rely on assistive technology. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA across our public marketing and legal pages, and we treat accessibility as an ongoing commitment rather than a one-time checkbox.

What we do

• Semantic HTML with a logical heading order and page landmarks (header, main, footer, navigation).
• A "Skip to content" link and visible keyboard focus indicators on links, buttons, and controls.
• Text and interface colors chosen to meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio for normal text in both our light and dark themes.
• Links in body content are underlined, so they're distinguishable without relying on color alone.
• Form fields have associated labels; the sign-in dialog is keyboard-operable.
• We honor the prefers-reduced-motion setting and keep motion minimal.
• The site is responsive and works without a fixed zoom, so it can be enlarged.

Known limitations

We're being upfront about areas we're still improving:

• The interactive map (the free point inspector and the in-app map) is built on a third-party mapping library. Point-and-click map interaction is difficult to operate by keyboard or screen reader alone. The written inspection results it produces are rendered as normal, readable text, and the underlying claim data is available in the feed as text and links.
• Deep links to BLM open the government's own MLRS site, whose accessibility we don't control.
• Automated testing catches only a portion of real-world issues, so some problems may remain until a person reports them.

We aim to respond within a few business days and will work with you on an alternative way to get the information you need.
